Oriental Daily Interview: Ms Lim An Huey (World Diabetes Day 2018)
"Almost 1 in 5 Malaysian adults have Diabetes. Many people don't realize they are Diabetic or Pre-diabetic. This is because warning signs of abnormally raised blood glucose (sugar) can appear many years before a diagnosis.”
Pre-diabetic is a condition where your blood glucose levels are higher than normal but are not high enough to be diagnosed as Diabetic. This group of people can effectively reduce the risk of progressing to Type 2 Diabetes by making changes to lead a healthier lifestyle.
The theme by IDF for World Diabetes Day for 2018 and 2019 is “The Family and Diabetes”.
