Carpal Tunnel Release

What is Carpal Tunnel Release?

As a minor surgical procedure, Carpal Tunnel Release involves cutting the carpal ligament in order to reduce the pressure on the median nerve located at the Carpal Tunnel of the Wrist. Because of the minor severity of this procedure, it is usually performed as a day surgery under local anaesthesia where the doctor will make a small incision on the palm of your hand near the wrist (keyhole surgery).

Why do you need Carpal Tunnel Release?

This procedure is usually recommended if the patient experiences symptoms such as pain, numbness and tingling sensations on a moderate to severe level that lasts six months or even longer. The pain tends to be relieved immediately after surgery but the numbness and tingling sensations may take longer to return to normal.
