Emergency Department
Gleneagles Hospital Penang’s Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day and well-equipped to handle any injury or medical emergency. At the Emergency Department, the dedicated team of doctors and nurses are specially trained for emergency situations. Emergency situations will be immediately evaluated using the triage system. The most severe cases with life-threatening conditions will be of utmost priority, followed by the other triage categories accordingly, depending on the number of patients in the Emergency Department.
In addition to having a team of doctors assessing and managing your case, a multidisciplinary team of specialists are always on call to attend to complex medical cases.
The triage system is to categorise patient base on urgency and number of resources required.

There are listed on call specialist. Any request for preferred specialist can be forwarded to admission counter personnel.
We accept various modes of payment including cash and major credit cards at our hospitals.
Local patients: If you‘re paying via insurance, whether it‘s a personal accident plan or comprehensive hospitalisation plan that covers your expenses at the Emergency Department, please present your medical card at the registration counter, our hospital could process your registration and request for insurance company guarantee letter on your behalf.
Foreign patients: We recommend you to fully pay your bill upon discharge (by cash or credit card), and obtain relevant documents to file a claim to your insurance company subsequently.
If you wish to pay and file claim to your insurance company, here are the documents needed to be collected from our hospital upon discharge:
