Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

What is Lumbar Pain?

There are certain preventive measures to alleviate back pain problems if they are only for a short period of time. This helps to avoid any other future signs or symptoms that might arise later on. The most common back pain is located in the lower back, the Lumbar Spine. This particular area holds the most weight throughout your activities daily.

There are plenty of individuals who suffer from lower back pain at least once in their lives. Only a few people with lower back pain have a severe condition. Recovery process will sometimes take between two to six weeks depending on your condition. Lower back pain can be seperated into 2 categories:

- Machanical Pain that is caused by gradual wear and tear (degeneration) in parts of the Lumbar Spine

- Neurogenic Pain that happens when the spinal nerves are inflamed, squeezed, or pinched

Causes

There are many causes that lead to back pain and they can categorized according to the source of pain. These common causes include: - Arthritis

- Bone tumour - Fracture

- Irritation of a nerve root

- Ligament injury

- Muscle strain or injury

- Other non-spinal related causes are viral infections, kidney stones, or gynaecological problems in women

- Poor posture

- Slipped disc

- Spinal Stenosis (narrowing of the Spinal Canal)

- Spine curvatures (scoliosis or kyphosis)

- Trauma
