Dr Terrence Soong received his MBCh.B (UK) from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom in 2000. He began his career in Ophthalmology in the United Kingdom where he trained at various teaching hospitals in the National Health Service (NHS) from 2002 to 2007. Upon his return to Malaysia, Dr. Soong practised as an eye specialist in the University of Malaya Medical Centre from 2008 to 2012. In 2011, he was admitted as a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of London.
Dr Soong completed his sub-specialty fellowship training in Vitreo-retinal Surgery & Retinal Disorders in Adelaide, Australia in 2013. He then practised at Hospital Selayang for 1 year as a specialist in the Ophthalmology Department. His exposure to the different healthcare systems both internationally and locally has given him extensive experience with complex eye conditions.
He is a gazetted eye specialist of the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) and is registered as an eye specialist in the National Specialist Register (NSR). Dr. Soong was a council member of the College of Ophthalmologists at the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia and is a life member of the Malaysian Medical Association. He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London.
