Dr. Kumar obtained his Master’s in Surgery from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India in 1983. He then served in the Middle East, Iran for about 13 years as a Consultant Surgeon/Endoscopist. In December 1995, he joined Ministry of Health, Malaysia and served under MOH until April 2015. He was previously attached with Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu and Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan.
Dr Kumar is a life member of the Association of Surgeons of India. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Glasgow, England and Republic of Ireland. He is also a fellow of American College of Surgeons, a member of American College of Gastro-Enterologists and Independent Medical Examiner.
Dr Kumar is a true general surgeon to the core. He has great interest in Minimal Access Surgery and Endoscopy (advanced). A special interest of him is minimizing minimal access surgery for the next frontier.
